To Our Loyal Fans,

You asked for it. We got it. Now, you no longer have to go through a cumbersome registration process just to engage with us and your fellow readers. You can leave your email address when you comment if you want to, but there’s no compulsion. Don’t get us wrong — we’d still love to know who you are, and that knowledge will help other site travelers put your ideas in context, but we think this new approach will make things easier.

Speaking of commenting, don’t get us started on our weekly back-to-school book giveaway. It’s now even easier to become eligible for free copies of our popular and highly respected K-12 titles.

You may say to yourself, “I never win these things.” It pains us to admit this, but as of right now — 10:37 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, Wednesday, August 10, 2011 — you’d have a 100 percent chance of winning. So far, only four people have entered. To parse this out: that’s four entries for five drawings between now and Sep. 16. Even the editors here, who pursued quixotic careers in journalism largely to avoid complicated math problems, know those are good odds*.

In the meantime, continue to enjoy the (new and improved!) site, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions or further suggestions on ways to improve the site.

We remain, your humble servant,

Title I-Derland

*We are aware that there may be a version of the Heisenberg Principle at play here: The more people take advantage of great odds, the slimmer those odds get. We get that. We really do. But we believe your chances will still be quite good. And, even if you don’t win, all you’ll have lost is 15 seconds of your life.
